As a medical doctor with dual nationality – German and British – I am registered with the General Medical Council (UK) and offer therapy in English.
I am a consultant/ medical specialist for Obstetrics and Gynecology and have been working as a doctor in Berlin 12 years.
In 2017 I commenced a further specialist training in Sexual Medicine at the Berlin School of Sexual Health under the supervision of Professor Beier. For this reason I hold a cooperation agreement with the Institute of Sexology and Sexual Medicine , Charité Mitte. This means that I attend patients there regularly and would like to contribute to their scientific research. The additional qualification in Sexual Medicine is tied to a specialist title and is recognised by the Berlin Medical Association (Ärztekammer) when the following has been completed: two years of course work, 100 hours of supervised therapy and an oral examination. I have not taken this final exam yet, but have completed the complete training.
Working as a gynecologist is very fulfilling therefore I still continue to work in hospitals in the Berlin & Brandenburg area (delivery, surgery, A&E). However, I have always been very interested in psychology and the effects on the body. As part of my specialist training, I also completed the course in basic psychosomatic care (52h theory and participation in Balint groups) under the supervision of Doctor Mario Scheib.
Sexual disorders and chronic pain can not only have physical causes, but can also be traced back to psychological issues. That is my main focus: I try to shed light on relationships and to resolve internal conflicts. Together with the patient (and partner), we develop constructive approaches.
During therapy I will ask you personal questions in detail regarding sexual fantasies, masturbation, etc. All conversations are strictly confidential and no information will be forwarded to authorities.
For quality assurance, I take part in regular supervision and Balint groups, where the course of therapy is discussed anonymously. This serves to improve patient care, but also to reflect one’s own therapeutic work.
Sex therapy completes my work as a specialist for OB-GYN. It is a pleasure to have the time and space to deal intensively with patient concerns . This often lacks during everyday work in hospitals and practices.
I look forward to getting to know you soon.
